How to Become a Massage Therapist

When you’re looking to become a massage therapist, you have a few different options. You can go the traditional route, where you study massage in school and then get your license after graduation. Or, you can choose to go the more independent route, where you study on your own and then apply for a license through the state board of massage therapy. There are pros and cons to each method of training.

The professional route is generally easier to follow because you don’t need to take as many classes or complete as many hours as if you were going the traditional route. However, there are fewer opportunities for employment when you go this route because most states only offer licensing for those who graduated from accredited schools. This means that anyone can become licensed as long as they meet minimal requirements: pass an exam, pay application fees, and take additional classes or workshops. The good news is that there are plenty of online programs available that will allow you to do this without leaving your home office!

The self-study option allows people with various backgrounds and skillsets to become licensed. You could be an experienced massage therapist in Redmond who wants an additional certification to work at a spa or hotel; someone who wants more experience before becoming licensed; or someone who needs something like this to get started on their career path. This option also allows those with no formal training; it’s not necessary for anyone except those few who want it.

Several online schools offer these programs and can help you with your career goals. The following schools all have a different approach to their programs, but they all offer online education.

Good massage services are hard to find and even harder to keep. You can find them in your community, but if you want to be a massage therapist in the future, you’ll need to learn how to market yourself. You can use several methods to get clients, but the easiest is probably through word of mouth.
